The Bible teaches that people were made to exist forever, either eternally separated from God because of their sin, or eternally with God because of the forgiveness and salvation given in Jesus Christ. Hell is eternal separation from God. Heaven is eternal union with God in his new creation. (John 3:16, John 14:17, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:17-18, Revelation 20:15, 2 Corinthians 2:7-9)
