Adam and Eve, through their own free will, chose to disobey God and turn away from Him. The result of their choice, which the Bible calls sin, was to sever their relationship with God. Christians sometimes refer to this as The Fall or Original Sin. It would be easy to blame Adam and Eve for the present state of the world, but the Bible teaches, and history validates, that every one of us has chosen at one point or another to likewise disobey God and turn away from Him. Because of Adam’s sin, death entered the world, and affects every part of creation. Man is unable to restore his relationship with God through his own efforts.
